D&D Beyond For Character Generation

Please create a free account on D&D Beyond: https://www.dndbeyond.com/

Please use that site to create your new character for the upcoming campaign. There is an easy to use interface to create one. Here are some guidelines to follow:

  • Create your character using the Standard method
  • Take the default settings on the first page
  • Use the ‘Players Handbook’ option for race choices
  • For Ability Stats, choose from below:
    • Manually roll them: You generate your character’s six ability scores randomly. Roll four 6-sided dice and record the total of the highest three dice on a piece of scratch paper. Do this five more times, so that you have six numbers.
    • Use Standard Array: use the following scores: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8. Now take your six numbers and write each number beside one of your character’s six abilities to assign scores to Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma.
    • Point Buy: Start every stat at 8. You have 27 points to spend to increase your ability scores. Increases to 13 cost 1 point each, increases to 14 and 15 cost 2 points each. For example, a score of 11 costs 3 points, a score of 14 costs 7 points. Using this method, 15 is the highest ability score you can end up with, before applying racial increases. You can’t have a score lower than 8.
  • Equipment: You can purchase your starting equipment including anything in the Player’s Handbook. Extensive lists of equipment, with prices, also appear in that chapter. If you wish, you can also have one trinket at no cost (see the Trinkets table at the end of chapter 5). Your Strength score limits the amount of gear you can carry. Try not to purchase equipment with a total weight (in pounds) exceeding your Strength score times 15. Chapter 7 has more information on carrying capacity. You have the following number of gold pieces (gp) to spend based on your class:
    • Barbarian, Druid – 2d4 x 10gp = 80gp
    • Sorcerer 3d4 x 10gp = 120gp
    • Rogue, Warlock, Wizard – 4d4 x 10gp = 160gp
    • Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger – 5d4 x 10gp = 200gp
